It's not your fault that you feel burnt out. But it is your responsibility to get better.

Have you ever felt...

...emotionally detached from your casework?

...less interested in things you once enjoyed?

...lack of control over your emotions?

...strain on your relationships?

...a sense of loneliness, like you're the only one who feels this way?

If so...you are not alone.

Because here's the thing...

You're trained to handle and investigate traumatic incidents, usually developing a mental toughness so you can continue providing support to others on the worst day of their lives.

You're not trained how to handle the impacts of the job on your life.

(...plus the irregular schedule, long working hours, and gallons of caffeine doesn't help!)

Listen, I understand your hesitation to seek help - maybe you fear this is a sign of weakness or that you could be viewed as "unfit" for duty.

I had those same thoughts myself. As a matter of fact, I actually recognized the strain that burnout placed over my life but felt powerless to prevent it - why could everyone else deal with their stress but not me? Overtime, I resorted to a bottle of wine to help take the edge off of a hard case or help me sleep when I got home from work.

But in February 2021, I took back control. I overcame burnout and alcohol use disorder to create a life I truly enjoy, and I want to teach you how to do the same.

These strategies include:

  • Crafting a personalized plan by identifying your goals and values
  • Incorporating mindfulness techniques to foster resilience
  • Creating a positive transformation by mastering your emotions
  • Establishing a sleep protocol to enhance your overall well-being
  • ...and more!

I provide you with all the details AND additional resources!

*Please note: I chose to embrace an alcohol-free lifestyle as a way to combat burnout in my career. Throughout this eCourse, you'll hear me share examples from my alcohol-free journey. However, rest assured, the strategies and principles I impart are universally applicable and extend beyond this specific aspect of recovery.

Introducing...

The Burnout Protocol

A Self-Paced eCourse Designed to Address the Burnout Epidemic in the Last Responder Community

Hi! I'm Katharine Pope, MA, D-ABMDI

I'm a seasoned professional with a diverse background in forensics and public service.

My journey encompasses roles as a Crime Scene Technician for the Austin Police Department, a WWII Casualty Analyst for the Department of Defense MIA/POW Personnel Office, a Forensic Anthropologist for DMORT, and a Medicolegal Death Investigator, serving in Texas, New York, New Jersey, and Delaware ME Offices. Currently, I contribute my expertise to RTI International, collaborating with the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.

My roots are deeply tied to public service, being the daughter of a firefighter and ER nurse-turned-school nurse, the sister of a retired US Army veteran working as a medical librarian, and the wife of a dedicated teacher.

Beyond my professional endeavors, I am deeply committed to my passion project, "Forensics Found." In my spare time, I focus on promoting mental and physical health awareness within the Last Responder community.

"Public service is a calling — we need love and support to do these hard jobs!"
